The Faculty of Computer Science and Management inaugurated its activity on 1 September 1968 as the Engineering-Economic Faculty. It was the first faculty of this educational profile in Poland. It has functioned under its current name since 1972. After numerous transformations now there are two institutes: the Institute of Informatics and the Institute of Organisation and Management. The scientific-research concentrates in these two institutes.
The Faculty takes advantage not only of its favourable geographical location which attracts foreign companies but it also actively participates in the process of modelling the future of Lower Silesia. The faculty employees act as experts and advise regional authorities. In reply to newly arising needs they develop projects which create regional knowledge based economy. The co-operation with the Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesia Voivodeship has resulted in the establishment of the Regional Innovation Strategy of the Lower Silesia. The scientists of the Faculty of Computer Science and Management also conduct research on the Strategy of Energetics Development in Lower Silesia Foresight Methods, they actively participate in the preparation of the Lower Silesia Political and Economic Forum in Krzyżowa or the work of the Wrocław Metropolitan Forum. Under the auspices of the Wrocław Municipal Office they made an attempt to convince teachers that the use of the e-learning platform is beneficial and worked on making the e-learning concept more common.
The Faculty of Computer Science and Management is the education place for specialists of two courses of study which allow our graduates to find their place in the world of global economy. This is possible thanks to extensive scientific-research activity conducted by our employees. This activity allows to find new teaching paths and prepare our graduates for work in the changing environment on the job market.
The Faculty offers bachelor, engineer, master courses and doctoral studies. There is also a rich offer of postgraduate courses. In reply to the market need new specialisations which are taught in English have been introduced.
