Faculty of Computer Science and Management

Sabina Rosiek-Pawłowska, DSc, PhD, Eng

In recent years I have been involved in several international research projects as the principal investigator (1), the main researcher (5), the researcher (7) as well as execution project manager (3).

In October 2019, I was awarded the first edition of the Polish Return Programme from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. Thanks to the Polish Return Programme, I was given the opportunity to establish my own research group. Since then, we have been carrying out independent research, the “RadMat” Polish national project (www.radmat.eu), which involves the simulation, development, and implementation of a novel radiative water mattress solution for the dairy industry to be used in dairy cattle.

Participation in Research Projects

4: Thermal Energy Storage with Phase Change Materials for Solar Cooling and Heating Applications: A technological viability analysis (PCMSOL); execution period: 01.12.2016 – 31.12.2020; financed by: ELAC2015/T06-0988; role: Author of the proposal, Senior Researcher. The main goal of the PCMSOL project was the study of cold and heat accumulation using a variety of phase transition materials for use in a solar-assisted air-conditioning system installed in the CIESOL building.

3:  Thermal energy recovery from a novel sequencing batch biofilter granular reactor (THERBIOR), WaterWorks: execution period: 01.04.2016 – 01.04.2018; financed by: WaterWorks 2014 ERANET COFUNDED CALL under the H2020 ERANET scheme; role: Author of the proposal, Senior Researcher, Project Execution Manager. THERBIOR focuses on the development, implementation, and diffusion of technologies to improve energy efficiency in wastewater treatment plants using a solar-powered heat pump system, applicable in the Mediterranean tourism sector.

2: Evaluation, optimization and improvement of renewable energy-based coolers applied in a food chamber refrigeration system: execution period: 01.01.2013 – 31.01.2015; financed by: The Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness; role: Researcher, Project Execution Manager. The main purpose here was to design and implement the fully off-grid refrigeration systems applied to the agricultural sector.

1: Singular Strategic Project called "Bioclimatic Architecture and Solar Cooling (ARFRISOL)", PS-120000-2005-1PSE: execution period: 01.01.2005 – 31.12.2012; financed by: The Spanish Ministry of Education and Science; role: Researcher. The main purpose of the ARFRISOL project was the design and optimization (through numerical engineering and environmental analysis as well using artificial intelligence techniques) of the multi-purpose solar-assisted air- conditioning system installed in the Ciesol building.

Research and Development Contracts in Collaboration with the Industrial Sector

7: Design, optimization and validation of a photovoltaic system of alternating to direct current feeding motors, adapted to production, Execution period: 20.06.2016 – 20.10.2016. Financed by: VOSOL INGENIERÍA E INSTALACIONES, S.L, role: Researcher.
